I’m not sure if you could consider the Airwrap a trend anymore; it’s been around since 2018 and has been changing the at-home hair game ever since. However, the Airwrap and the Flexstyle still feature heavily in influencer content.
These tools blow-dry your hair with lower heat and style it while drying. This means you don’t need to use a second heated styling tool like a curling wand or straightener, reducing heat damage. Instead of just blowing hot air, like the traditional hair dryer, and trusting the user to create a smoothing airstream, the Airwrap and Flexstyle use the Coanda effect. This effect is where high-speed jets of air (or liquid) draw the hair into the chosen tool rather than blowing it away.
These supposedly revolutionary tools come with a hefty price tag, which is often the hurdle one must consider before making the jump. The Airwrap is around £450, depending on the model, and the Flexstyle is around £260.

The Verdict
I was worried I might be slightly biased as I’ve been an Airwrap girlie for quite some time, but the results are in, and these drying and styling tools are very clearly a hit. They save precious time and create great results. There are certainly some considerations: the outlay is a lot, and getting the hang of the technique can be tricky. Some also reported struggling to get curls to stay. 4.5 stars!
EXPERT TIP: I also discussed it with my stylist, who recommends always using a heat protection product and the GHD Curly Ever After Curl Hold Spray to help keep the curls in.
